Commissioner Paul Tagliabue retired from the National Football League in July. As Commissioner for 17 years, he provided unparalleled vision to the NFL, advancing it to become one of the most cherished sports in America. Equally so, he formed a lasting legacy with United Way.
The NFL/United Way partnership has been an exemplary model of collective change in communities for more than three decades. This success stems from Commissioner Tagliabue’s shared commitment over the years to our movement’s work. Thanks to his leadership and dedication, the partnership continues to thrive and grow.
More than this, his personal commitment to United Way—as a member of the Board of Trustees for more than a decade, as chair of the Board, and most recently as an investor providing financial relief to the Gulf Coast region to rebuild homes lives—is simply incomparable.
As Commissioner Tagliabue celebrates his retirement and follows new endeavors, we celebrate him for his devotion to helping others through United Way and we’re honored to have had him as a leader in our movement.
